The Local Government Personnel Association of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area has been a central organization for public sector human resource professionals throughout MD, VA, and DC for over 50 years. Established in 1958 by the personnel directors in five local jurisdictions, LGPA's focus is to provide our members with professional resources and development opportunities that are relevant, cost-effective, local and meaningful to their careers. Unlike other professional associations, we are not divided into chapters. Our members are welcome to participate in all activities.
The LGPA is governed by a Board of Directors. Board Members volunteer their time to LGPA by serving as active participants in the day-to-day operations of the organization and may also serve as subcommittee chairs. Active member organizations may nominate an employee for a board seat during an election period.
